Camera Work Reflection

 Camera Movements

For me to do the learning process I had to study each movement from taking class notes and watching an informational video on it. Afterwards for more practice, Ms. Acosta allowed us to do this following assignment, which was the Camera Movements project.

In order for me to do this project, I first had to storyboard my idea which was a difficult but good experience. Then, we had to record a few clips with the different mentioned camera movements. For the last step, we had to write which movements we used on each clip.

One of the biggest challenges was trying to come up with a way to not record myself and instead record something else. So when I asked Ms. Acosta if I could do drawing, to which she said yes to, I was relieved.

I learned how to detect the movements better throughout the project. I think I really worked well on the identifying aspect of the whole project, as well as detailing why its importance for a scene.

What I would do differently next time is ask more questions when I'm in doubt. I think asking Ms. Acosta questions about what I could do helped me save time from overthinking.

 Camera Angles/Shots

For me to do the learning process I had to study each angle and shot from taking notes during class. Ms. Acosta then gave us papers with printed out media scenes to glue onto our notebooks and identify each angle and shot.

In order for me to do this project, I first had to storyboard my idea which a better experience than before. Afterwards, we had shoot pictures of inanimate objects in certain angles and shots. For the last step, we had to write in a PowerPoint which angles and shots we used on each picture to tell the story.

One of the biggest challenges was trying to come up with a good narrative story, and which inanimate objects I could use. I ended up thinking of a dramatic cheating story with glue sticks, a pair of scissors, and an eraser at the end.

I learned how to detect the angles and shots better throughout the project. And as for the identifying the angles/shots aspect of the project, I did much better than the last project.

What I would do differently next time is
I think asking Ms. Acosta questions about what I could do helped me save time from overthinking.
